Nuvation Energy and A123 Systems, LLC Unveil a Seamless Battery Pack and BMS Solution for Utility-Scale Energy Storage

Nuvation Energy and A123 Systems announce the A123 Systems’ 52S liquid-cooled battery pack integrated with Nuvation Energy’s G5 Battery Management System (BMS), providing future customers with a streamlined solution for large-scale energy storage applications.

Designed for 1500V DC system architectures, this integrated solution combines A123 Systems’ advanced lithium-ion battery technology with Nuvation Energy’s UL Recognized G5 BMS to help accelerate deployment timelines and simplify system integration for battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturers, integrators, and developers. By combining advanced battery technology with North American-developed battery controls, the solution supports customers navigating evolving cybersecurity concerns, regional regulatory requirements, and increasing demand for locally sourced energy storage components.

The A123 pack comes pre-integrated with Nuvation Energy’s G5 Level 1 BMS and is designed for compatibility with Nuvation Energy’s G5 Stack Switchgear. For the first time, customers can source A123 Systems battery packs with Nuvation’s BMS already installed and ready for system-level integration, creating a faster, simpler, and more seamless path from selection to deployment.

The announcement builds on a long-standing collaboration between the two companies, which has already supported hundreds of megawatt-hours of deployed energy storage systems together across utility-scale applications.
