Nuvation Energy Introduces North American-Made G5 Plus Battery Management System with 64-Channel Cell Interface for 52s Battery Modules
Designed and manufactured in the United States and Canada, the new G5 Plus BMS expands support for high-density battery configurations for utility-scale energy storage.
SUNNYVALE, Calif., November 5, 2026 – Nuvation Energy, a leading provider of battery management systems (BMS) for utility-scale energy storage, has announced the G5 Plus High-Voltage Battery Management System, featuring a new 64-channel Cell Interface designed to support high cell-count battery configurations, including 52s battery modules. Engineered, designed, and manufactured in the United States and Canada, the G5 Plus BMS provides energy storage developers and battery manufacturers with greater flexibility in system design and a North American technology supply chain.
As battery manufacturers adopt higher cell-count module configurations, BMS architectures must accommodate an increasing number of cells and temperature measurements while maintaining reliable monitoring and protection. The G5 Plus introduces the new CI-64 Cell Interface, supporting up to 64 cell voltage and bus bar measurements and 64 thermistor inputs. This expanded monitoring capacity provides greater design flexibility for battery system developers and system integrators working with 52s and other high cell-count configurations.

“Energy storage systems are evolving toward higher cell-count battery modules, and battery management technology needs to evolve alongside them,” said Michael Worry, CEO and Founder of Nuvation Energy. “The G5 Plus expands our support for these configurations while maintaining our commitment to North American engineering and manufacturing. We’re giving energy storage developers more flexibility in system design and greater confidence in their technology supply chain.”
Supporting battery stacks up to 1500V DC, the G5 Plus builds on Nuvation Energy’s existing G5 platform, retaining advanced capabilities including continuous cell balancing during operation, open-wire detection, and patented State of Charge (SoC) and State of Health (SoH) algorithms.
North American Design and Manufacturing
The G5 Plus is designed, engineered, and manufactured in the United States and Canada, providing energy storage developers and manufacturers with an FEOC-compliant North American BMS option at a time when supply chain transparency, sourcing requirements, and cybersecurity considerations are increasingly important to energy infrastructure projects.
As Foreign Entity of Concern (FEOC) restrictions introduce additional sourcing and compliance considerations for U.S. energy storage projects, developers and manufacturers are increasingly evaluating the ownership, origin, and supply chains of critical system components.
Nuvation Energy is wholly owned by U.S. and Canadian citizens and maintains ownerships of its product intellectual property, along with control over component sourcing, assembly, manufacturing testing, and product traceability. This provides greater transparency and visibility throughout the entire manufacturing process, helping customers evaluate their equipment sourcing against FEOC compliance requirements.
Designed for Energy Storage Safety and Compliance
The G5 Plus has been designed for UL 1973 Recognition and is designed to support UL 9540 energy storage system certification and CE compliance requirements.
Evaluation units of the G5 Plus will be available in early 2027.
Meet Nuvation Energy at RE+ 2026
Nuvation Energy will be exhibiting at RE+ 2026, November 16-19, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Energy storage developers, battery manufacturers, and system integrators are invited to visit Nuvation Energy in booth C6378 to discuss G5 Plus and its application for their energy storage projects.
