Nuvation Energy’s Response to U.S. Utility Grid Security Concerns

In 2024 Nuvation Energy began receiving inquiries from energy storage system integrators about the countries in which we design and manufacture our battery management systems, and the cybersecurity measures we have implemented in them. These questions have been driven by utility grid security concerns that have been expressed by the United States government. In response, we have published a whitepaper that answers some of these questions.

Nuvation Energy battery management systems are designed in-house at our facilities in Canada and the United States. All our product manufacturing is performed within Canada and the US, with strict supervision of the production process and direct control of our supply chain. We have also incorporated a range of robust security measures into our products.

The energy storage and utility grid power generation industries leverage a global supply chain for equipment; this is not something the US industrial base is currently capable of displacing. Given this reality, this whitepaper provides some technical insight into the varying degrees of risk in different battery energy storage system components.
